We recently had a picnic/reunion with our friends at our alma mater, UCLA. It’s been over a decade since we visited the campus, and oh boy, the nostalgia set in immediately. There were many times when I was whisked back in time and saw myself rushing across campus, eating at familiar places, and spending all-nighters at Powell Library. I remember the accomplishments, but also the doubts and the stress. If I could go back and speak to my past self, I would have so many things to tell him. I remember the all-you-can-eat dining halls, gaining the freshman 15, fraternity row, UCLA football games, and trying to avoid making eye contact with recruiters of various clubs on Bruin Walk. I remember my graduation at Royce Hall, the extravagance and joy of it all. I could see the thousands of families gathered in one moment to celebrate and bring hope to the future. Now that we’re bringing our kids and our friends’ kids to the campus, I only hope they find their path to what truly speaks to them. UCLA was my path, as well as my wife’s and my very close friends’. I dream that one day our kids will enjoy this experience and make lifelong friends, just as we did. Below are a few photos from that trip.
